We can never get enough of Colorado and there are always new spots to visit (so far). We love traveling and visiting with Julia and John. This time they joined us for a road trip to Santa Fe! It was a long drive (thanks, John) but worth the trip.
We stayed in a beautiful and convenient condo on a hillside that Julia found for us. It has a beautiful vista view.
In the city we had our first of three excellent and varied meals. This time at Cafe Pasqual's
Our first adventure was to Meow Wolf where I have long wanted to visit. Here is our door from the mystery house into another world. It turned out there were many doors, stairways and hidden spots!
We loved the food, sake and atmosphere at Ten Thousand Waves, which offers lodging and spa services as well as the restaurant. Besides the plates which we shared, we ordered four different desserts.
Next day was the first outdoor adventure. We started with a hearty breakfast.
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument was spectacular. Paul and John went ahead because they planned to scale the mesa which is steep and rated as difficult. Julia stayed with me and we hiked the same cave trail through the slot canyon and beyond, but stopped at the steep mesa part. We thoroughly enjoyed this.
The guys caught up with us on the return trip through the canyon, so we joined for the recreational trail among the tent rocks.
Out other outdoor adventure, on another day, was to Bandelier National Monument. We wanted to see the cave dwellings in particular. The trail set-up was well done and we enjoyed climbing among the rocks and into the dwellings where we were allowed.
We also took a hike along a river toward Alcove House high up in the cliffs. Julia and I didn't do the ascent but we took the rest of the trail. We saw a black bear on the way.
Our final spectacular meal was at a casual and very popular African restaurant. Here John enjoys his coconut.
