203. Good Cause

Week 203.  5/29/19

We attended a benefit for RIA House, Inc., a non-profit serving women who are victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Our friend, Deborah, a social worker, is associated with this very good cause. She mentors some of the social workers there.

The benefit was an evening of story-telling. A couple of the stories were on the topic of the evening but most were on other topics. It was very entertaining. I hope they made a lot of money for the cause.

202. New Car!

Week 202  5/24/19

This is a bit odd, but Paul decided we should get a new car. He did some research and decided on a Honda Insight, a hybrid similar to the Civic. Of course the experience was a bit of an ordeal and took longer than it should have but we are very happy with the car - my first new car!

I'll miss my old reliable Fit.

Waiting...............

201. Rooney's Run

Week 201  5/19/19

The Trail Club teams up with Medway Youth Baseball each year for a fundraiser trail run. There was a bit of competition with a few similar runs in neighboring towns on the same day. Paul and I volunteered to help guide runners.

200. Saco family

Week 200  5/17/19

We were invited to visit Charlie and Andy for a fishing and visiting weekend. On the way we took a side adventure to Saco, Maine, home of Paul's Emery ancestors.

We first visited the historical archives and looked at some very impressive artifacts. This town is very proud of its heritage. We were told that the genealogical records could be found at the library in a room that is open limited hours. We decided to visit Saco again on our way back from Auburn so we could visit the archives and see more of the town.

Here is the museum.

Here is the library.

Some of the Emerys were quite prominent in town. After some searching, Paul found references to his branch of the family.

We ate lunch at a fun pub in a restored mill.

After lunch we took a walk through the Saco Heath Preserve.

Here is a picture of Charlie. He and Paul always seem to have good luck fishing together.

199. Rail Trail toward Milford

Week 199  5/8/19

After returning from Baltimore I was ready to greet spring in our neck of the woods. We drove to the park near where the Wennekeening trail system meets the Rail Trail and walked almost all the way to Milford (and back). We saw many signs of spring including some beautiful blossoms.

For good measure, here are a couple of photos from our yard too. We have shiitakes growing on some logs.
