215. Paul's gift

Week 215  8/29/19

For Paul's 70'th birthday, I gave him a surprise day with his brother. Charlie and Judy arrived in the morning and the two guys had fun traveling on their bicycles and reminiscing. We capped off the day with steaks, champagne and birthday cake.

For a gift, I presented Paul with a sign hand-made by Dennis Coakley.

214. Farm Day

8/24/19  Farm Day in Holliston

Medway isn't quite ready to join in Farm Day yet. (Next year.) Holliston had a nice showing though.

Arcadian Farms showcased a big band with dancing. There were also games and farm equipment for the kids and food truck offerings.

Outpost turkey farm visitors enjoyed the Railroad House Band.

It was a nice day for a canoe trip and we hadn't done much canoeing this summer. We tried a new spot in Hopkinton -- Lake Maspenock.

212. Dighton Rock

Week 212.  8/9/19

We read about a small museum in Berkley where a rock was found ages ago, covered with carved symbols. There are several theories about the age and origin of the carvings and speculation about what they mean.

The tiny museum is on a beautiful park on the Taunton River. After touring the museum and eating a picnic lunch on a table near the river, we followed some of the hiking trails through the forest.

211. Farm recognition

Week 211.  8/1/19

Joe Kennedy visits Medway Community Farm

Congressman Kennedy visited the farm to recognize the community participation in the farm. I guess there are not too many non-profit town farms. Speeches were given about the educational ties with Medway schools and donations to the food pantry charity. After the speeches and tour, Rep Kennedy purchased two items from the farm stand: a cucumber and a pint of Chicken Brook Farm blueberries!
